From the Historian

August 1999

As church historian, I would like to ask that we take a brief look back. A church started in Faith, coupled with a lot of hard work and dedication by the members of the little congregation, can still move forward to a great future by holding fast to this faith.

Several members of our present congregation can still remember with pride the church which grew from a vacant lot to the present beautiful church that can with pride be passed on to future generations. On this joyous day of our forty-fifth anniversary, let us all remember the part our church has played in our lives, whether we have been members from the beginning or have just recently become a part of this church. I personally feel that West End has been a blessing to me and my family, and I think that each of us that who have had a part can look with pride at our past history and toward our many opportunities that await us in the future. The possibility of future growth should now be the incentive for dedicated work which is now in the hands of new and capable church leaders. the fields are ripe and ready for the harvest. It is the prayer of the members that have been a part of the growth for the past 49 years that the new leadership will press forward in renewed faith and dedication. We can take the Torch of Faith and place it in the hands of future generations. Our church dedicated to the glory of God, January 17, 1954, can and must be preserved for future generations to share in the building of His kingdom.
